Ambilight for Philips

Concept ┃ Creative direction ┃ UX/UI

As an extension of the successful launch of commercial ski-film Afterglow, I created (together with A&W and Dareville) a WebGL based 3D ski game that brought thousands of users into our virtual ski park, and further built buzz and activation in key target groups for Philips.

Approach

Ambilight Snow Park broke new visual grounds for browser-based games, where users could ride down a big mountain in the dark. With the help of Ambilight power-ups, users would have a more clear vision as they flew down the slopes and tried to reach the bottom as fast as possible. To avoid skiing in complete darkness, the users had to collect Ambilight TVs spread out across the mountain on their way down. If no TVs were collected their light and vision would quickly fade.

Results

Ambilight Snow Park gained buzz in tech- and gaming communities, as a few hundred thousand users played the game during the campaign. The game sparked a lot of buzz around the Ambilight technology used in Philips TVs and gained recognition at Awwwards - a prestigious prize rewarding design, creativity and innovation on the Internet.
